Year 1 and 2
Welcome to Year 1/2 at St. George’s.
Class teacher: Miss Noble
Teaching Assistants: Mrs Caw and Mrs Price
This term our topic is based on homes. The first half term the children will be thinking about their own homes and location, then how houses have changed over time. After the October half term, we will be looking at homes from around the world.
This topic will encompass History, Geography, Art and DT.
We will be following the RWI rhymes to support phonics with actions.
The buried treasure game supports children with similar examples to what they will be given during their phonics assessment.
Children will read regularly in school in both guided reading and 1:1 sessions. We ask that children read three times a week at home and books are brought to school daily.
This term we will be focusing on place value, addition and subtraction. Children in Year 1 will be learning to add a one digit number to a two digit number and Year 2 will be moving onto formal calculation methods. Year 2 children are invited to a maths club on Tuesday after school 3:25 – 4:25. Parents are welcome to come and join in too.
Spelling Your child will be given a spelling day in September and they will get spellings each week to be tested the following week.
Our PE days will be Wednesday and Friday. For PE children will need shorts, house coloured t-shirt, pumps and some outdoor trainers.
